Shannon River with St. Flannan’s Church, Killaloe, Co. Clare by Caitriona Osborne

St. Flannans, Shannon River, Killaloe, Co. Clare

Oil Landscape painting on board, 16x24in (40x60cm)

I painted this view from the Ballina side of the Shannon river after a day trip here with my family. It was a beautiful warm summer day with just a touch of cloud starting to form. It’s a favourite recreational spot for many from the surrounding counties of Clare, Limerick and Tipperary. Layers of soft colour give this piece a light and airy presence.

About the materials:
This painting is on high density fibreboard which has been sealed and primed before paint application. As there is no grain the board is resistant to warping. However it is recommended that this work be framed before hanging to protect the corners from accidental impact damage.
I use Royal Talens Cobra and Micheal Harding brand oil paints they give fantastic colour and clarity with lightfast pigments.

Painting: 060 x 40 cm (24 x 16 inches)
