About the Artist
Alistair spent over 30 years,in a career at sea, and retired unexpectedly early in 2006. Following his retirement, he and and his wife moved from their house onto a narrowboat (60 foot narrow barge) to live. After 5 years, of exploring the rivers and canals of the British waterways they decided to move themselves and their boat to Ireland, to explore the Erne, and Shannon Waterways of Ireland.
Having fallen totally in love, with all aspects of Ireland, they have settled down on the border of Northern Ireland, using this as a base to explore more of this beautiful island and its wonderful coastline.
Having started painting after he retired, he is self taught, and experimented with watercolours before moving to Acrylics. He was fortunate to sell some early paintings from an online exhibition site, but it is only recently that he has been able to take his painting more seriously and develop a unique and personal style with Acrylic. He has sold and exhibits paintings around the world, in Australia, France, United States of America, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Ireland with its wonderful lakes rivers and coastline has allowed him to utilise his hobby to specialise in seascapes, which is fulfilling more and more of his own time.
