About the Artist
Born in Rotterdam, raised in Ireland, I am an artist dividing my time between Ireland and Berlin. Having completed a degree in History of Art at Trinity College Dublin in 1999, I worked and traveled around the world for 14 years before moving to Germany to focus on my art full-time.
My paintings are inspired by my native west of Ireland and the many other lands traveled since. I have taken part in group and solo exhibitions in Berlin and Ireland and my work is on permanent display at Freyer Marktforschung and Wüs Atelier & Gallery. My work has also been acquired for private collections in Ireland, Germany, the USA, India, Jordan, South Africa, the UK, Lebanon, Iceland and Denmark.
I pay tribute to our world, painting representational and re-imagined landscapes celebrating the grandeur of nature. My paintings are memories that shape my ideas about the present and future.
As a practice, painting over and over again becomes routine and my memory predicts what it will be like to do things I haven’t done before. I am reliving scenes from my memory. I like to think that my paintings are always optimistic and extremely positive, creating a space of reflection and calm. Some pose questions in the abstract, while others simply a reason to stop; look; take a breath and remember.
3 of my works hang in the HSE Corporate Finance Center, Irish Government Buildings, Dublin, Ireland.
