About the Artist
Self taught and living in Ireland’s lake district, Killarney I have been painting for almost 40 years. Watercolour is my passion and I feel that it is very suitable for the Irish landscape – seeing as we are looking through a misty veil a lot of the time. Landscapes are my main subject but I always like to have something going on there – an abandoned bike, a stolen boat….
Born in Donegal, I later attended University College Dublin where I studied Psychology and after my degree, completed a higher diploma in education and later still, a grad. dip. in guidance counsellor. During all this time, art played a constant role in my life but I never had the self confidence to think that I could make a career of painting. Then, having met a few artists, I began exhibiting with them and was amazed that people actually liked and bought my paintings. This experience motivated me to keep on keeping on,
So now, I paint regularly and have several successful solo exhibitions, and I also work part time on an adult education course as a guidance counsellor and art teacher.
