We’re delighted to have some new work just in on ArtClick from County Clare based artist Judy O’Sullivan.
Born in London, Judy O’Sullivan grew up in Cork and studied at both CIT Crawford College of Art and Design and University College Cork, graduating in 1980. She worked as an art teacher for a number of years while continuing studies in Art Therapy and Colour Therapy during which time she began to develop her own practice as a visual artist. Currently based in Co Clare she has exhibited regularly over the last ten years, with solo exhibitions in Dublin, Cork, Clare, Kilkenny. Her work has been selected for many group exhibitions in Ireland and France. As well as private collections her work is in the collection of Clare County Council.
“The process of how the work is created is an important part of my practice, combining drawing print, photography, layering and overpainting in flux until the piece is complete. There is an element of memory in my work, which draws on a personal and shared sense of history attached to places, found or discarded objects, including photographs. My work is inspired by the marks of everyday life, and an awareness of impermanence and transience.”
